LaBella Engineers Speak at American Water Works Association Conference
Last week, several members of LaBella Associates presented at the 94th annual North Carolina American Water Works Associates in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The conference spanned three days and included a variety of both educational and recreational activities to foster an environment of learning and sharing ideas. There were over 1,200 water/wastewater professionals in attendance and over 100 exhibitors. LaBella is proud to be a Corporate Sponsor of this event.
Mike Barnes, PE of our Charlotte office presented on the effective removal of Total Organic Carbon using MIEX Ion Exchange treatment solutions, which we incorporated into the City of Roxboro’s water treatment plant. Mike showcased the different options available for reducing total organic carbon and why the MIEX Ion Exchange System was ultimately chosen.
Keith Garbrick, PE, also of our Charlotte office, presented on the considerations and operational challenges in choosing a membrane filtration for a water treatment plant upgrade for the Two Rivers Utilities water treatment plant in the City of Gastonia. Keith covered the considerations and challenges of implementing membrane technology while maintaining a conventional treatment facility.
