LaBella Thanks Veterans With Vietnam Veterans Chapter 77 Memorial
In this month of thanksgiving, LaBella was proud to say thank you and give back to our Vietnam Veterans by providing design and engineering services for the construction of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 77 Memorial on Niagara Street in Tonawanda.
The memorial was designed with two elements. The first is an AH-1G COBRA helicopter, used during the conflict. The helicopter is held aloft by a steel beam and 6' x 6' stone pedestal. The second feature is a memorial wall designed with memorial bricks, service branch medallions, and stone veneer. The wall also supports flagpole mounting for the United States, POW-MIA and VVA Chapter 77 flags.
Earlier this month, to coincide with the Veterans Day holiday, a dedication ceremony was held. Over 1,100 people attended including the pilot of the memorialized helicopter, Jimmie D. Ferguson, who traveled from Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The Buffalo News reported on both the memorial and COBRA's journey to Tonawanda. Check out both articles:
