LaBella Expands Into Capital Region With Acquisition of Novus Engineering and Bagdon Environmental
LaBella Associates announces the acquisition of Delmar, NY firm Novus Engineering, and their subsidiary division Bagdon Environmental. The acquisition will give LaBella Associates 16 office locations, including 8 in New York.
Novus Engineering was founded in 1981, originally specializing in energy project consulting. Projects in energy conservation, cogeneration, hydropower, and renewable technologies led to a demand for mechanical and electrical design services, resulting in incorporation as a professional engineering firm in 1994. Today, the firm employs 15 employees in their Delmar, NY office, including the Bagdon Environmental division, also founded in 1981.
Novus Engineering and Bagdon Environmental bring additional capabilities to LaBella’s full service offering. In addition to full MEP and energy efficiency services, Novus offers several areas of specialized expertise. These include building commissioning, air permitting and compliance services for industrial and institutional clients, acoustical consulting for architectural environments and environmental noise, and fuel and electricity procurement consulting. Bagdon Environmental specializes in ecological services related to state and federal wetlands, endangered species and regulatory compliance. These areas of specialized expertise strengthen and enhance LaBella’s existing engineering and environmental service offerings.
All Novus Engineering and Bagdon Environmental employees will be retained in the acquisition. “Our clients will continue to work with the Novus personnel they know and trust,” founder Mark Bagdon said. “However, within LaBella we’ll now have additional support and expertise we can utilize when a project requires it.”
LaBella Associates offers in-house mechanical, electrical, plumbing and civil engineering, bridge and highway engineering, planning, architecture and interior design, program management and environmental consulting. “Our commitment is to provide the right resources to our clients,” LaBella President Robert A. Healy said. “Having a LaBella team in the Capital Region will enhance our capability to serve both new and existing clients in the region.”
