Neighborhood Health Center's Fourth Clinic Brings Essential Services to Blasdell
The Neighborhood Health Center’s Lake Ave location is now open and treating patients in Blasdell, NY. The former grocery store had been vacant since 2002, until Neighborhood Health Center (NHC) partnered with LaBella to transform the abandoned building into their fourth clinic. NHC was founded in 1986 with the mission to provide impactful health care administered by kind people, “so Western New Yorkers can achieve their dreams and goals.” The new clinic brings citizens of Blasdell one step closer.
Since NHC aims specifically to offer medical care to populations with limited access to services, LaBella worked with them to find a location where a new clinic would most impact the community. NHC is known for providing compassionate health care regardless of a patient’s insurance status or ability to pay. Our interior designers worked to create a safe and welcoming environment for patients, utilizing plenty of natural light and durable finishes in soothing earth tones.
The renovation was a multiphase project to meet a tight deadline for both design and construction, allowing NHC to occupy the building as soon as possible. NHC was at risk of losing their grant if they were not seeing patients by April 11th. To accommodate that restraint, phase 1 of the project consisted of creating a space for primary care and pediatrics. By July 3rd workers transitioned the area into the dental office, and phase 2 commenced— building a welcoming lobby and the remainder of treatment rooms. Finally, phase 3 introduced an administration wing with offices and conference rooms.
All in all, the $4.6 million project renovated 29,000 square feet, outfitting 24 exam rooms and 2 procedure rooms. The renovation includes entirely new electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. As a full family ambulatory clinic, the new site offers:
Women’s health services
Mental health services
LaBella is proud to play a role in providing health care access to communities in need.
