Governor Cuomo Announces the Finger Lakes Downtown Revitalization Initiative Winner: City of Batavia
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced Friday that the City of Batavia has been awarded $10 million to implement their Downtown Revitalization Initiative. Of the 104 applications submitted for the grant funding, the City of Batavia was ultimately selected as the first place winner for the Finger Lakes region.
The Downtown Revitalization Initiative is a program developed by the Governor’s Office in partnership with the Empire State Development Corporation, Department of State and New York State Homes and Community Renewal to transform downtown neighborhoods into vibrant communities where the next generation of New Yorkers will want to live, work and raise families.
LaBella's Planning team is looking forward to working with the City of Batavia, New York State and local economic development partners on the project. LaBella Associates was selected by the Empire State Development Corporation to prepare the Strategic Investment Plan that will guide reinvestment in Batavia and recommend priority projects that will have the greatest impact on City’s Downtown Business Improvement District.
The LaBella team will also identify synergistic opportunities that combine Downtown Development needs with existing community assets, existing or planned public and private investment, and development options.
Community priorities will be the guiding force in the project, while sensitivity to public priorities will be maintained through a series of public consultation and community involvement actions.
Kick off for the project will begin immediately with the local planning committee, and initial public meetings are anticipated shortly thereafter.
