Franklin Urban Sports and Entertainment Complex: There is something for everyone!
Franklin Urban Sports and Entertainment (FUSE) Complex, home of the newest minor league baseball team in the Atlantic League, the Gastonia Honey Hunters, serves as the anchor for the FUSE District in Gastonia, NC. LaBella was honored to partner with the city on this critical economic development project for Gastonia and Gaston County. We were hired as a sub consultant to lead architect, Pendulum Studios, for engineering design services on this multi-use stadium that will host approximately 70 baseball games a year in addition to other sporting events, concerts, festivals, and community functions.
The $26.2 million stadium sits on a 10-acre site in the Loray Mill neighborhood, just west of the City’s downtown area, which is experiencing a dramatic revitalization that is forecasted to continue throughout the next 10-20 years. The addition of the FUSE complex will energize the economy and lifestyles in this neighborhood, with future plans for additional restaurants, hotels, shops, and a parking deck.
FUSE Complex welcomed residents, visitors and baseball lovers on Opening Day, May 27, 2021. The stadium has capacity for 5,000 fans with 3,500 VIP, group, and fixed seats. The field itself contains 135,000 SF of AstroTurf, 13,932,200 lumens of lighting, and the largest digital scoreboard in the Carolinas west of Charlotte at 24’ high and 63’ wide. With a playground, team store, concessions, rooftop deck, bars, restaurants, and a 360-degree concourse offering 1,670’ of walking distance, there is something for everyone at this ballpark!
