During the last five years LaBella has been very active implementing New York Main Street revitalization projects on behalf of six Upstate New York Communities: the Villages of Lyons, Sodus, Victor and Attica; the City of Batavia; and the Town of Williamson. The New York Main Street projects include building improvements, façade upgrades and streetscape improvements that improve both the appearance and economic viability of downtown commercial districts.
LaBella staff is engaged by communities or economic development agencies to administer the projects which include assistance with applications, environmental reviews, work write ups, bidding and contracts. Since 2008, LaBella staff has helped 54 businesses take advantage of $1.75 million in grant funds to implement building improvement projects totaling more than $3.75 million.
Downtown Revitalization is one of the niche services provided by the Planning Division and is consistent with the Division’s overall mission to help communities and businesses advance community revitalization through sustainable economic development initiatives.
