John was recently awarded the 2014 Kate Gleason Young Engineer of the Year award and will be honored at the Rochester Engineering Society’s Gala on April 11th. He is the 8th recipient of this annual award, joining an impressive group of young engineers who have been recognized for their outstanding professional achievements, their community service and for actively promoting engineering excellence and leadership in the Rochester area.
John’s desire to improve the public realm and give back to his community is evident in his lifelong commitment as a volunteer firefighter. Currently with the Penfield Fire Company, John is a past member and Captain with the Albion Fire Department as well as a past member with the Brighton Fire Department.
During John’s 17 year career, 10 of which have been with LaBella, he has become LaBella’s “go-to” bridge preservation specialist and an advocate for many municipal clients’ transportation projects. In addition to his strong relationship with many local municipalities, he has designed and managed over 20 bridge replacement projects and 16 bridge preservation projects over the past 10 years. In addition, John manages three (3) of LaBella’s client’s bridge inventory. He has been a major contributor to much of the success LaBella’s bridge group has seen since joining the company.
