LaBella was proud to participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Hermance Family Chapel of St. Basil the Great at St. John Fisher College.
Led by President Dr. Gerard Rooney, the ceremony featured members of the Hermance family, the St. John Fisher College Board of Trustees, the college’s Basilian Fathers, and Bishop Salvatore Matano.
Remarks by Bishop Matano referenced recent violence and instability across the world, and his hope for the new chapel to play a role in educating the next generation of stewards of peace. The hymn “All Are Welcome” was sung.
LaBella designed the new chapel in signature Gothic style of the St. John Fisher campus, making reference to Kearney Hall which is immediately adjacent to the new chapel site. Our design team is working with local artisan Valerie O’Hara of Pike Stained Glass Studios in the design of 12 stained glass windows and mosiacs. Projects costs are estimated at $3.34 Million, the principal gift coming from the Hermance Family Foundation.
