Officials from Thompson Health held a ribbon cutting on Friday, June 30th, to celebrate the completion of a new 12 bay Observation Unit at the Golisano Center for Emergency and Diagnostic Medicine at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY.
The Observation Unit is designed as a place for Emergency Department patients who require an extended stay for monitoring before they are able to be released. Patients can continue to be monitored in a calmer environment, away from the bustling ED.
The Observation Unit is the second and final phase of this project. The first phase, which included a second CT scanner and a prep and recovery area for Diagnostic Imaging patients, was completed last fall.
