LaBella was proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the the Nazareth College Golisano Training Center today, alongside our project partners Nazareth College and LeChase Construction, Tom Golisano, Golisano Foundation trustees and Director Ann Costello, Stacey Hengsterman, President & CEO of Special Olympics New York, local Special Olympians, and International Special Olympics Chairman Dr. Timothy Shriver.
We're honored to be trusted with the design of the facility, which is the first of its kind in the Northeast to be designed at its inception for inclusion and engagement of the special needs community.
The new center will serve many purposes, from providing an indoor track, field, courts and training facilities to Nazareth students and student athletes, to also serving as a training and competition center for people of all ages who have intellectual disabilities. In addition, Nazareth students will have the opportunity to gain real world experience by providing health screening and wellness programs to the Special Olympics program participants as part of their educational program.
The gift of $7.5 Million from Tom Golisano is the largest in the College's history. The project cost will total $23.5 Million and be complete in 2019.
