Established in 2005, the purpose of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) New York State Intern-Associate Award is to recognize notable contributions and accomplishments by an intern or associate member of AIA NYS, both professionally and in the community.
Barbara Burke has 5 years of experience and has been with LaBella since graduating from Syracuse University in 2013. Barbara has served as designer on a number of higher education and religious projects, including the award winning Hermance Family Chapel at St. John Fisher College, which she wrote about here.
Barbara is heavily involved with the AIA Rochester local chapter. She is the current Development & Outreach Director and serves on the Communications and Centennial Committees. She also participates in the AIA Explorer's Program and Emerging Rochester Architects.
Barbara is also an active volunteer in the community. She has been an ACE Mentor for the past 5 years and is currently the Program Director. Earlier this year she was recognized as the ACE Outstanding Mentor of the Year. In addition, she is a leadership team member of LaBella in the Community (LINC) and helps to organize and facilitate employee volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
Barbara was nominated by the local Rochester AIA Honor Awards Committee. Congratulations!
