SUNY Fredonia – Gas Utility Upgrades

SUNY Fredonia Receives Campus-Wide Gas Utility Upgrades

LaBella provided a campus-wide natural gas distribution system to serve satellite boiler systems to be installed in at least 14 locations on the SUNY Fredonia campus. This system was installed to provide independent generation and control of the heating system supplies for a decentralized approach. We evaluated modifications and improvements to campus gas utility infrastructure to service the new satellite boilers.

Work provided included the following:

  • Existing site survey
  • Conceptual design through construction phase administration services
  • Reviewed available gas service pressures and main sizes
  • Established new routes for a campus-wide gas main distribution network
  • Performed gas loading modeling based on gas demands and loads provided by others to determine appropriate pipe diameters and needed pressures
  • Selected gas service regulators for Phase 1 locations
  • Designed modifications to the campus main gas service entrance piping
  • Coordination with local gas utility

Additionally, our team prepared construction documents to complete the following:

  • Installation of ± 8,900 linear feet of medium-density polyethylene, fusion-welded gas main pipe ranging in size from 1” to 10” diameter
  • Testing and purging of installed gas lines
  • Installation of eight gas regulator assemblies and six transition risers at service points
  • Construction of vandal-proof fence enclosures and screening walls at regulators
