Lander University Breaks Ground on Innovative Nursing Experiential Learning Center

Designed to enhance healthcare education and hands-on learning, the new center will provide cutting-edge resources for students pursuing careers in nursing.

Lander University marked a major milestone on May 6, 2025, officially breaking ground on its future Nursing Experiential Learning Center—a dynamic new space that will transform how nursing students learn, collaborate, and prepare for careers in healthcare. LaBella was proud to be on-site to celebrate the occasion alongside Lander University leadership, faculty, staff, and project partners.

Construction is already underway on the 14,000-square-foot, one-story building, which will house advanced academic and training spaces for one of the University’s largest academic programs. Located on the University’s campus in Greenwood, South Carolina, the new center will be situated directly opposite the iconic bell tower of Laura Lander Hall—creating a premier home for the School of Nursing.

Once complete, the center will feature:

  • Five medical simulation suites: Obstetrics High-Fidelity, Pediatric High-Fidelity, Medical/Surgical (2), and Critical Care High-Fidelity, along with related support spaces
  • Control rooms
  • Debriefing, conference, and meeting rooms
  • Collaborative study and huddle areas
  • Two collaborative learning classrooms with capacity for 60 students each

LaBella is providing architectural and interior design services, as well as AV/IT and simulation equipment selection and procurement, construction documentation, and construction administration. Additionally, the project is on track to achieve Two Green Globes certification for sustainability through the Green Building Initiative.
