Hovey Pond Park – A Place of Play, Reflection, and Respite

LaBella was commissioned by the Town of Queensbury Parks and Recreation Department to prepare a park master plan and implement priority improvements at Hovey Pond Park. Our team of landscape architects developed conceptual designs and construction drawings for inclusive play features, a memorial garden, an overlook pavilion, parking area plantings, and other landscape and circulation enhancements.

Inclusive Play Features

The inclusive children’s play area provides a dynamic, interactive, and safe environment with universal access to a variety of play elements, including musical features. The play area is immersed in a native plant setting that includes large shade trees, is surrounded by decorative fencing, and utilizes protective fall surfacing.

Memorial Garden

The memorial garden is designed to provide a reflective and tranquil space within the overall park setting with scenic views of Hovey Pond. The garden space provides an organized framework for various individual memorials within a large, raised planting area that includes granite stones and is organized around a circular design theme.

Overlook Pavilion

The overlook pavilion provides a centralized gathering and seating area within the park. New circulation improvements and seating provides access to the pavilion and views of Hovey Pond. Native plantings surround the pavilion area and large shade trees offer comfort and frame views for this quaint architectural feature.
