Trella Uptown Mixed-Income Residential Community

Mixed-Income Living in Vibrant Art Deco Multi-Family Development

Located at 8th and North Tryon streets in Charlotte, this mixed-income residential community will be first of its kind in North Carolina when it opens in 2024. The 353-unit apartment complex in Uptown Charlotte will include 106 units for residents below the city’s median income. Specifically, the $115 million project will contain a mix of affordable rents, capped at 30%, 60%, and 80% of the area’s median income. The project is a partnership between INLIVIAN, Charlotte’s housing authority and Urban Atlantic, a mixed-use housing developer based in Bethesda, Maryland.

Beginning in fall 2023, construction is underway on the site of the vacant Hall House, formerly Barringer Hotel. The building will feature 1940s-era Art Deco architecture and amenities such as a spa pool, sports courts, a coworking café, a rooftop terrace, and a dog park. Inside, there will be one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, in addition to studio apartments. The affordable units will be evenly dispersed.
