Congratulations to Bernard Adler, Recipient of an ITE Met Section Distinguished Member Award!
Bernard Adler, PE is being honored as the 2022 Leon Goodman Distinguished Member Award winner by the ITE Met Section! TheITE Metis the “organization of choice” for Metropolitan of New York and New Jersey transportation professionals. The ITE Met was formed in 1945 and has over 800 members who are dedicated to the betterment of local infrastructure to provide harmonious movement of goods and travelers.
This designation may be made by the Executive Board in “special circumstances” in recognition of a present or former member’s distinguished and significant contributions over a period of years. Retirement from regular full-time practice of Transportation Engineering is a requirement but limited involvement in the profession is permissible.
Bernard has over 50 years of experience in transportation planning and traffic engineering. He started his own business in 1991, which is now part of LaBella Associates. He has worked with clients in government, real estate, healthcare, education, religious, and cultural institutions for both the public and private sectors.
As a licensed Professional Engineer in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, Bernard’s contributions to the profession over the years have included:
Serving as President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary of the City College of New York’s Engineering School Alumni
Receiving the Ivor S. Wisepart Engineer of the Year Award from ITE’s Met Section, the Harvey Boutwell Distinguished Service Award from ITE’s District One, the Outstanding Engineer in Government from the Westchester County Chapter of NSPE, and the Alumni Service Award from the City College of New York Alumni Association
Being a past adjunct Professor of Civil Engineering at Manhattan College
Being a former Commissioner of Traffic for the City of White Plains, NY
Being formerly employed by AIL Division of Cutler Hammer Computran Systems Corp., the Tri-State Regional Planning Commission, Wilbur Smith & Associates, Raymond Keys Associates, and The Chazen Companies (now part of LaBella Associates)
