Rundel Memorial Library North Terrace Improvement Project Wins Statewide APWA NY Chapter Public Works Project of the Year Award!

In addition to winning two regional awards, the Rundel Memorial Library North Terrace Improvement Project has won the statewide APWA New York Chapter Public Works Project of the Year Award in the Structures $5-$25 Million category!

“Our team is thrilled that the APWA has recognized this project for its achievement in the transformation of a public space. Working in partnership with the Library and the City of Rochester allowed the design and construction of a “next-generation” public space at the north side of the historic Rundel Public Library. Funding provided by NYS ESD and DASNY elevated the project’s transformation from what was originally scoped as a structural rehabilitation project” says Susan Matzat, PE, LEED AP, LaBella Senior Vice President and Project Manager.

This $9.8 million project transformed the terrace into a vibrant public space that celebrates the history of the Rundel Library and the Erie Canal. Furthermore, the project provides enhanced outdoor public space for gathering and library programming and improves visibility and public access to the City’s riverfront area.

Design partners and prime construction contractors included:
