Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital Lobby

LaBella Associates was the design architect and architect of record for the phased renovation of the main lobby at University Hospitals’ Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.

For any patient, especially children, going to a hospital is a very stressful and frightening experience. LaBella designed a warm and welcoming lobby with careful attention to detail, including finishes and lighting, making the entire environment friendly and fun for children.

Many security upgrades were implemented to protect staff and patients, but were carefully screened from view, minimizing the institutional feel of the space.

The project was designed to be constructed in three phases, allowing full-time access to the hospital with careful consideration to infection control and construction sequencing.

The renovation of the lobby has significantly improved the patient and staff experience upon entry of this highly important institution.
