Cleveland Clinic – Health System USP 797/800 Pharmacy Upgrades
Successfully Navigating USP 797/800 Regulations in Healthcare
The Cleveland Clinic commissioned LaBella to upgrade 14 of its existing Infusion Oncology Pharmacies to meet new USP 797/800 regulations. These pharmacies were located in various cities across Northern and Central Ohio.
The project scope ranged from the replacement of the existing pharmacy and compounding rooms all the way up to the creation of completely new and expanded Infusion Oncology suites.
New pharmacies included new pharmacy workrooms, as well as negative and positive hood rooms separated by anterooms to maintain required pressure differences. New and expanded oncology units were designed to the Cleveland Clinic’s latest standards for patient comfort and satisfaction.
Building HVAC systems were either augmented or upgraded to meet the new USP 797/800 regulations. The latest network and Wi-Fi technology was used to connect the new pharmacies and infusion suites to the Cleveland Clinic’s network and A/V systems. Where available, the new pharmacies were connected to emergency power systems to allow them to continue operating during critical situations.

This was a hugely complex project with multiple different and unique buildings. LaBella delivered on each project and we rarely encountered any issues with a go-live. The team was very detail oriented. It was a highly successful project and I don’t think it could have been done without the LaBella team.Marc Earl, PharmD., BCOP Former Pharmacy Director, Cleveland Clinic
